High School Bus Hits Overpass Tearing Off Roof And Injuring Students

NY Charter Bus Hits Overpass

A New York High School’s charter bus was returning from a spring break trip on Sunday night and struct a bridge overpass in Long Island.  The crash injured six passengers and completely tore off the roof of the bus.

One of the six injured students sustained very serious injuries, said State Police Maj. David Candelaria.

Thirty-Seven other passengers sustained minor injuries.

“Everybody was able to walk out except one, which we extricated,” Lakeview Fire Department Chief Patrick McNeill told Newsday. “There was glass everywhere. The roof of the bus is down to the top of the seat covers.”
