Amid the recent wave of school shootings that have taken place, such as Florida’s Valentines Day School Massacre and the recent man hunt that took place at Central Michigan University, another school shooting has taken place at an Alabama High School.
“The shooting happened during dismissal time at Huffman High School in Birmingham when two students — a 17-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy — were shot,” Birmingham Police Chief Orlando Wilson said at a press conference.
The female student was killed and the male student is in critical yet stable condition. A school employee also sustained injuries but they were treated and released immediately.
Birmingham Police are currently working to determine whether the shooting was an accident. They have recovered a gun at the scene but have yet to make any arrests.
